Quality First Approach

As an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer, quality is the philosophy at the heart of everything we do

  • From our first certification of BS5750 in 1986 to the current ISO 9001:2015, STL has understood and implemented the improvements in product and process quality, as they became available.
  • Our in-house Quality Assurance team are responsible for the ongoing operation of the Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality Management systems as one single system
  • There is a tangible desire for continuous improvement within the STL company culture. This is embodied by the philosophy of our QA team and their work to modernise everyday procedures

Quality is the philosophy at the heart of what we do. From our first certification of BS5750 in 1986 to the current ISO 9001:2015, STL has understood and implemented the improvements in product and process quality, as they became available.

Our in-house Quality Assurance team are responsible for the ongoing operation of the Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality Management systems as one single system, increasing efficiencies as the various systems continue to compliment one another.

In 2019, STL became one of the first manufacturers in the UK to attain the conversion from BS18001 to ISO45001 standard certification for Health and Safety. As a company, we are also committed to achieving the highest possible environmental standards. In 2022, we gained the ISO 14001:2015 environmental standard, a first for the company.

  • Achieving certification for all standards is part of an ongoing continuous improvement drive within STL to maintain a world class, safe working environment.
  • Continuous investment in new technology improves quality assurance, enhances in-house inspection capabilities and efficiency and dramatically reduces QA inspection times.
  • Our QA team can perform high-precision measurements, automatically record data, and generate reports with the push of a button.

Product specification and batch to batch reproducibility are assured by the use of standard quality processes and measurement tools:

  • Advanced product quality planning (APQP)
  • Product part approval process (PPAP)
  • Design and Process FMEA
  • Design verification and validation
  • Design for six sigma manufacturing
  • Statistical techniques – preliminary process capability studies (PPK)
  • Ongoing process capability evaluation (CPK)
  • Performance measurement
  • Keyence Image Dimension Measuring System
  • Laser scanning
  • 3D CMM with both vision system and touch probes with reverse engineering capability.
